Dear Valued Customer,

We would like to inform you that our hosting service will be henceforth using MariaDB for all cPanel accounts and packages. Beginning of 1st October 2020 onwards, all cPanel servers, accounts, and packages will be configured using MariaDB. The IT Guys hosting service will be moving away from MySQL Database.

Why are implementing these changes? Below is the list of reasons for this migration,

  1. MariaDB development is more open and vibrant
  2. Quicker and more transparent security releases
  3. Better performance and stability
  4. More cutting edge features
  5. Supports more storage engines
  6. Compatible and easy to migrate
  7. MariaDB has leaped in popularity as a replacement for MySQL
  8. Uncertainty with Oracle who currently owns MySQL

The objective of this migration is to bring you better stability, assurance, and performance while you are using our services, and thus, the move of migration. The move to Maria DB is to provide better stability and performance to your platform/services that you are using such as your website and e-commerce site. We would like to move away from any possible issues in the future due to MySQL changes.

The IT Guys is build to provide a better solution and platform and in this case, we would like to ensure our customers have the best experience whilst using our services. We are constantly improving our network, servers, operating systems (OS), platform, tools, and solutions to provide the utmost best services from us.

We would like to thank you for using our services and platform. Not to forget your constant support towards us. We will always do our best to provide the best possible solution for our patrons.

Cheers!
